Metanoia captures a violent shift in sound and subject matter for Lo Key. It’s raw, guitar-driven nu-metal layered with emotional screams, distorted vocals, and rap verses that deal with personal collapse and transformation. The album leans heavily on late ’90s and early 2000s influences, but applies them to themes of internal chaos and self-destruction. Tracks like “fade” and “Demon Inside” are brutally honest, while “Roots” and “Spiderwebs” build out the album’s emotional scope. Originally meant to be a Lo Key / Badluck group project, Metanoia instead became one of his most cathartic solo records to date.
